Sunday School Classes

Adult Fellowship     
Location: Parlor, A-2                                                                                                                             
Teachers: Mike Miller, Tina Sue Lane
This friendly class of mature adults composes one of the longest-running Sunday School classes at St. Mark. They enjoy the Quarterly Adult Bible Study, service to the church, and fellowship with one another. Class members participate in planning programs, mission projects and regular social activities.
 
Agape    
Location: Downstairs, B-4
Teacher: Paul Martin
As the name implies, this caring group focuses on Bible study, local and foreign missions, and outreach. Members explore a variety of scripture-based books and Christian studies as resources in a lecture-discussion format. Socials throughout the year enable class members to share fellowship outside the Sunday School class. The Agape Class was established more than 20 years ago.
 
Explorers   
Location: Downstairs, B-6                                                                                                 
Teacher: Jeff Jackson
Adults in their mid 20's to late 30's explore the Bible with emphasis on learning from one another, sharing experiences and working to apply God's truths to their lives. This discussion-based class studies a broad variety of topics based on class interest. Each study lasts about 8-12 weeks. They enjoy regular social events and monthly supper clubs.
 
Genesis
Location: Upstairs, A-5
Teacher: Robert Humphreys
Single and married "50 somethings" and older delve into scripture-based studies with the goal of building stronger relationships with Christ and with others. This diverse class maintains a strong children's mission program in foreign countries and regularly supports local children for summer camp and school needs. They enjoy regular social events throughout the year.
 
Harrison/Seekers
Location: Downstairs, B-3
Teachers: Cindy and David Kelly (Temporarily)
One of our larger classes, most members are parents of adult children. Many members are in the Chancel Choir and attend the Traditional worship services. This discussion- based class uses books by contemporary Christian authors. They enjoy great fellowship, including an annual chili contest. They sponsor a child through World Vision and help with the annual Ricky Harrison 10k run.
 
Jenkins
Location: Downstairs, B-1
Teachers: Phillip Jenkins, Danny Lemley, Jay Lindly, Reggie Rowe, Michael Yessick
This mission-oriented class of primarily parents of older children/youth has met for over 20 years. They believe giving time and resources to the church and community is an important part of the Christian Journey. The Quarterly Adult Bible Study is the basis for discussion and lecture. Members annually complete projects for the Methodist Children's Home and Care Construction as well as financially supporting other missions.
 
Living Waters
Location: Family Life Center, Gym
Teacher: Bill McCook
Believing that Jesus is the Word made flesh and seeking God's face by studying his Word, adults in their 20's to 50's are on a mission in this new class to grow in their knowledge and understanding of our Father and Lord Jesus Christ, to develop their spiritual gifts and to be doers of the Word, not just hearers. If you want to grow spiritually, come and grow together with this group, which began in August 2007 out of a New Member Class.
 
McCollum
Location: Bell Hall, C-15
Teachers: Rev. Ken & Pat Bohannon, John Bostick, Esne Butler, Norman Carlson, Tom Ellis
This is one of the longest-running and largest Sunday School classes at St. Mark. This active group of mature adults uses the Quarterly Adult Bible Study curriculum. Class traditions include beginning each class with singing. They participate in foreign and local missions, and enjoy regular fellowship events.
 
Nova
Location: Downstairs, B-8
Teachers: Keith Blalock, Barney Cargile, Harry Goodall, Bill & Beth Yessick
Adults of all ages and stages use Quarterly Adult Bible Study and other study materials. The members love and support each other while maintaining an active mission outreach. They support Caring Days, House of Hope, Genesis Children's Home, the Bay St. Louis Mission and others. They enjoy quarterly socials in their homes or by attending an event together.
 
On Track
Location: Family Life Center, Walking Track
Teachers: Zak Holman, Jay McCollum
Adults of all ages are invited to join our newest class whose members encourage Holy Spirit-led open discussion and the sharing of their joys and struggles. They desire to grow in their faith together through the study and practical application of God's Word, to be doers of the Word, not just hearers, and to build strong relationships with Jesus and each other.
 
Singles
Location: Family Life Center, F-8
Teachers: Shirley Jay
This welcoming group is one of our newest classes. They are looking for singles ready for a lively Sunday School class with their peers. Members are using the Experiencing God curriculum as a basis for discussion. Regular social events and volunteer opportunities are planned for members and visitors.
 
Sojourners
Location: Family Life Center, Gym
Teachers: Tim Clements, Paul Bourgeois, Tim Haskew
Adults of all ages engage in facilitated discussion of the Bible and the application of Christian principle's to one' s everyday life. In belief that mission and outreach are a vital part of the Christian journey, they are active in many charitable projects, including Kairos prison ministry.
 
Vineyard
Location: Family Life Center, F-6
Teachers: Harry Gabriel, Bridgett Monk
The majority of this class members are single or married parents of elementary-age children or Jr./Sr. high youth. The class centers on Bible study, applying God's truths to their lives and learning from one another. The class supports the Baseball Country Mission as well as other missions. They have a quarterly supper club.
 
Voyagers
Location: Downstairs, B-7
Teacher: Mark Scogin
This smaller group is on a journey to increase their understanding and faith through Bible study and application to contemporary issues. Class members support many local and foreign missions, and enjoy regular social events.
 
Whosoever
Location: Sanctuary
Teachers: Rev. Dick and Linda Wright
This is one of our newest Sunday School Classes. It is a structured, in-depth Bible study led by a retired United Methodist minister. One chapter of the Bible is studied each week. Adults of all ages and stages of life are welcome to join and help the class grow.
 
College
Location: "The Closet", (Just off of the Youth Room), Family Life Center
Teacher: Christopher Jacobs
This is a group of college students who meet each week for discipleship and fellowship.  They're currently using the Experiencing God - Collegiate Edition as their curriculum. 
 
Youth
Location: Family Life Center, Youth Room
Teachers: Rev. Aaron Chadwick - High School, Sophia Chadwick - Middle School
There are currently groups for both Middle School and High school students dealing with current topics of the day. This is for ages 6th grade - 12th grade.  
 
Children and Nursery
Location: Multiple Classes on the Children's Wing
Teachers: Multiple Teachers
Children's Ministry currently offers Nurseries and Sunday School Classes for children in Preschool - 5th grade. Each class is lead by nurturing, caring, adults whose priority is teaching Children about Christ through education, compassion,love, and inclusion. Please contact Melanie Burkhalter for information regarding classes for Nursery - 2nd Grade, and Holli Maxwell for classes for 3rd - 5th graders.
